Presiding for the first time.

I learned today that, with the approval of the synodical bishop, I will be presiding at Holy Communion for the first time in my life next Sunday, August 8. In addition to lay presider, I will be the preacher, since Pastor Heidi will be on a well-deserved and needed vacation. I feel unexpectedly strangely nervous about presiding for the first time: for years now, saying those words has for me been the act that most viscerally, intensely, and profoundly symbolizes the pastoral office.
