Wonderful day-trip.

Today, as part of our initiative to discover new places on day-trips, Kev and I visited the Clark Botanic Garden, in Albertson, NY, on Long Island. According to their website, the garden was "founded in 1969" and "is a 12-acre living museum and educational facility. We are dedicated to understanding and appreciating the world's plant life through horticulture, education and research. Collections at the garden include native spring wildflowers, conifers, roses, perennials, daylilies, wetland plants, rock garden plants, herbs, butterfly plants, medicinal plants and over a dozen collections of particular plant families." Since we were able to go on a Friday, there was hardly anyone there. The grounds are laid out in various plots of different sizes/themes, and include two delightful ponds. A wonderful getaway, just a short ride down the LIRR's Oyster Bay branch, it was the perfect site for a picnic and a leisurely day out. See some of the luscious verdure in the photo gallery.
