A little surprised.

Well, it surpassed my expectations, but it has happened: the Indian Ocean disaster has now become "Old News" in the US. My scan of nearly every major national and regional newspaper shows that other, more pressing concerns have come to the fore. I did not expect the tsunami and aftermath to last beyond New Year's as a headline, but it made 12 days - "A World Not Exactly Transformed." But at least nearly every key news outlet outside the US is still reporting on crucial issues facing the reconstruction effort.
