[UPDATED] Relief for the tsunami victims.

HELP NOW!

I was, in fact, sitting in the middle of a movie with my family when the earthquake hit off of Sumatra. I wonder how many of us were similarly idling our time away. At least FIVE TIMES [update: now SEVEN SEVENTEEN TIMES] as many people are dead than were killed on THAT Tuesday, and I would hope that USAmericans would rush in proportionate fervor to change the face of the world in the supposed name of "those who died in the disaster." Yet I know all too well how we are in our comfort, and that 15,000 deaths won't merit more than 15 seconds (a minute at most) of the evening news by New Year's Eve. I'm glad I won't be in NYC - where the whole nation focuses its forgetfulness and immunizes itself from its responsibility that night. My cynicism was confirmed by the length of time it took to find the links to six organizations immediatly providing relief - I was able to find six pet hospitals in NYC (and three in SEA) faster.

HELP NOW! (Learn if you don't know.) Please comment only to add other links of news or ways to help provide relief to those suffering.
