The wrong church at the wrong time.I have all but decided that, if the ELCA's decision in August 2005 is adverse, I will probably leave the ELCA, pursue another vocation, and perhaps slowly move into another denomination in which - far down the road - I could seek ordination.
I will soon start to plan for the next few years on the assumption that ELCA ordination is not my likely path. Expect to see the updated plan here.

* IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT *
Well, I can here make it official. Emerging at the convergence of many conversations, factors, and considerations - over the past few weeks, really - I've decided to actively begin planning an exit strategy out of the path to ordination. This does not mean I'm ending the process now, but this does mark two shifts:

Jeremy, this must be excruciating. Even to me, in this autumn and year of so many disturbing things, I find myself stretched emotionally almost beyond my capacity to say anything. I have great respect for your talents and great confidence that they will continue to influence the world.
I also feel confused, that things can happen that are so very wrong.
