As part of our continuing initiative to explore outside NYC, Kev and I spent today on a marvelous trip to
Piermont, NY (pop. 2,607+), a tiny town on the Hudson less than a square mile in size. The main attraction was the mile-long Piermont Pier, which you can see below (more pictures
here). Down Piermont Ave, there's a neat hillside park, and it which would provide an interesting location for a wedding (which is NOT what I was scouting). We enjoyed visiting the shops, especially boondocks, and had excellent quiches for lunch at
The Turning Point Cafe. Though we would not survive, financially or emotionally, living here - we counted over a dozen BMWs driving by as we ate ice cream outside - it was a lovely walkabout and a tranquil escape. It's easily accessible on the Coach USA
Red and Tan Lines,
Route 9A-9W, out of the
Port Authority's
George Washington Bridge Bus Station.
The Piermont Pier (note the lovely GATED COMMUNITY on the right half of the pier - UGH!).
The Turning Point Cafe, Piermont, NY: Isn't it adorable - you can even EAT on the porch!
