Better-looking numbers.

Every week, The Economist publishes the latest results of its joint internet poll venture with YouGov. The panel is "one of the largest internet-polling projects in the United States," and so reflects the views of people who already use the internet. The full results are posted each week online.

This week's numbers (pdf) indicate that, for the seventh week, Kerry is ahead on the three significant pulses:
  • How would you vote today?
    47% Kerry, 44% Bush.

  • Satisfied/dissatisfied with how things are going?
    59% dissatisfied, 38% satisfied.

  • Approve/disapprove of how Bush is handling his job?
    54% disapprove, 42% approve.
What is interesting is that these numbers have not shown any
meaningful post-convention bounce for Kerry.

Along with the Big Three general indicators (likely vote, right/wrong track, job approval), the poll covers various specific indicators. Most interesting among the character-traits polled is that Kerry has a slight lead with respect to "Trustworthy" (53-50 in favor of Kerry now, versus 51-48 in favor of Bush in July), and has pretty well closed the gap with respect to both "Strong leader" (55-53 Bush now, 58-48 Bush in July) and "Moral" (58-55 Bush
now, 60-52 Bush in July).
