Praying for peace.

"The more we pray for peace, the more we will have to confront our interior warfare. In our prayers for peace, we imagine harmony rather than discord. We never think we will be thrown into the heart of the battle, whether internal or external, but that is exactly where God wants to lead us. If we are to be peacemakers, we will have to begin with ourselves. To labor for a peaceful world without examining our inner hostility is to fail to understand God's answer to our prayers."
-Hondi Duncan Brasco, Director, The Center for Spiritual Growth at Christ Church, Bronxville, NY

[from "Images in Reflection: A Collaboration of Art and Prayer," an exhibit at The Gallery at the American Bible Society. It featured the artwork of Ellen Miret with interpretations by Brasco. Kev and I saw the show on its last day, this past Saturday.]
