I wish, of course, that the writer had worked harder to establish more robustly and nuancedly the splits that the US Catholic Church is itself undergoing - rather than this monolithic idea of "Catholics." Nevertheless, it's another spoke in the turning wheel of US public religion (cf. my comment on May 24). [I should organize the blog's links/resources about religion+politics in the US more systematically...]
