Meanwhile, back at home...

In the shadow of such an important demonstration, today at Trinity we had a chance to teach our children what it means to do justice with bodily presence. Under decidedly unfavorable weather (cold and drizzle), 11 of Trinity's cherubs marched in CROP Walk NYC. The walk was not, to be sure, the greatest teaching moment: mostly we were trying to keep the kids moving along in something of a formation despite the poor weather. And we certainly should have done a better job talking, explaining, and learning together about what the CROP Walk meant, especially in the context of our eco-justice theme in Sunday School this month. But it was a start - a first for the kids and a first for Trinity. 20 years from now, I hope we won't need to have another march for abortion rights, except as a celebration of them: and I hope our 40-block walk today will eventually bring some of our kids to that march.
